My name is Velpula Prasanna, and I live in Manappadu village, Gadwala district. I come from a small family of four members and have had a challenging journey. The very tradition in our village is that every girl should get married before 18 years of age. There are no exceptions for our family and my family is started pressurising me for the marriage. My father struggles to make both ends meet and he is only breadwinner in the family.
My father’s affordability of giving quality education is out of reach, I somehow completed schooling in the village and the restrictions did not allow me to pursue any further studies. I wished, I wanted to be the girl not get marry so early before gaining financial freedom and provide financial support to my family as it is my due responsibility as a daughter.
I have not received any encouragement to do so from my relatives and fellow neighbours in the village. During this critical time, my parents also did not support me. One day, I saw an advertisement on Way2News about the 100 Days Later Initiative and 100 Days Later foundation providing free training. I was very happy and to know that the challenge lies in convincing my parents to join the course.
After strong pursuance, my took me to the 100 Days Later Foundation and Cyient Foundation skill centre located in Mahbubnagar. The counsellors so welcoming and they have enlightened me and my father about the vision of the promotor of foundations and the 100 Days Later initiative. The counsellors convinced me to enrol for Electronics and Soldering course and the job opportunities for the course. That is the moment we made a decision to live for the vision of Ms. Pratinya and joined their Electronics and Soldering course.
I never dreamed I would reach the stature I have achieved thus far, but my hard work, dedication, and perseverance guided me to move fearlessly. As the eldest child in a family of four, I witnessed many struggles growing up. Today, my desire is to offer a better life to my younger siblings through my earnings. My parents faced many challenges and had no money to send me to Mahabubnagar to attend classes. The Foundation’s changed my life entirely. The skills I gained through classes on life skills as well as domain skills had a profound impact on both my personal and professional growth.
I put it succinctly, “The 100 days I spent at the 100 Days Later Programs developed my ability to take firm decisions, owning responsibility for family and discipline, and effective time management skills. After successfully completing of 100 Days of training, I was nurtured to be curious for learning new, which drives me to stay one step ahead of others. Once I get a little clarity on a subject, I eagerly delve deeper to gain a more comprehensive understanding.
100 Days Later foundation taught us to have strong character and values of the promotors of the program. I am currently working at a reputed company called Schneider, which has brought honour to my family. My deepest gratitude to Ms. Pratinya and her family for providing such a great opportunity for girls like me to pursue their dreams.
I am the only one in the village who did not get married at the age of 18, million thanks to Ms. Pratinya and her thought for empowering women in 100 Days of short time.
