My name is Pothapally Priyanka, I am from Mahbubnagar. My life has been filled with struggles and sorrows. My family consists of my father, mother, two younger sisters, grandmother, and me. Though our names—Anju, Manju, Chinju—are rhythmic, our lives have not been. My father is a centring worker, and my mother is a housemaid.
My father is a drunkard who doesn’t spend any money on us. My mother was an active member of a Self-Help Group (SHG). She learned about a Women Empowerment training program offered through the 100 Days Later initiative of the 100 Days Later Foundation, supported by the Cyient Foundation during a community awareness interaction with Ms. Pratinya in our village.
My mother suggested me to attend the free trainings offered by the foundations, I have seen many such courses offerings by various skill centres and has not given any assured jobs to the trainees. However, my mother has strongly recommended to attend the trainings as she had gained confidence with the words Ms. Pratinya.I had visited the training centre in Mahabubnagar town and interacted with the counsellors. The counsellor has provided clear information about the training program. At that moment, I decided to join the course with my sister. We were attracted by the good job opportunities they offered at the end of the program.
Our classes were very interesting. I had never attended such classes before; it was not like a typical classroom. Midway through the project, we attended interviews with various firms. In the first four interviews, I was not selected. I felt very bad and disappointed, but the representatives of the 100 Days Later Foundation supported me and given few more interview opportunities.
They sent me for an interview at Schneider Electricals in Gagillapur, Hyderabad. It was an auspicious day in my life when I was selected. On June 26, 2023, I joined as an Assistant Technician with a salary of Rs. 15,000. The project has changed my lifestyle. Now, I feel that I am truly living and have found some happiness in life. My heartfelt thanks to Ms. Pratinya and the foundations. I am sharing my journey to encourage many more unemployed girls in our community to attend such a noble initiative called 100 Days Later Initiative of 100 Days Later Foundation and Cyient Foundation.
