Background:

My name is Nattalolla Nandhini, and I am from Devarakadra in the Mahabubnagar District. The family has financial difficulties as my father is only bread winner in the family. The earning source is through agriculture labour work, to make the family sustain my father used to spend all his time working in fields as daily wage worker.

The excessive workload on my father made him sick and unwell, when my father fell unexpectedly ill, our family situation worsened due to unexpected medical expenses and could not make both ends meet.

In the family the education is mere priority for girls, but I managed to continue my education despite the challenges, with lot of struggles and I had completed my schooling in a village government school in Telugu medium.

My family struggles continued, and I am desperate to support my family by earning a sustainable income which seems to be not possible as there are no job opportunities in and around and my education and skills do not meet any industry needs.

In the amidst of this uncertainty, I have come to know about 100 Days Later Initiative through a palm plate distributed in our village. This has opened great opportunity to pursue my dreams of working and earning for my family when they need my contribution. As the saying goes, “Every cloud has a silver lining.” My silver lining came through Ms. Pratinya and her 100 Days Later Foundation Women Empowerment training program with support from the Cyient Foundation.

The foundations provided required counselling in choosing the suitable job skills for my learning ability and qualification.

I had joined General Duty Assistance Course and gained all the skills with job-oriented training offered and my training had improved my behavioural skills and communication skills. The knowledge I gained from this training boosted my self-confidence and helped me succeed in job interviews. Before joining the skill centre, I faced depression due to family financial problems and gained excessive weight. Many people rejected me for marriage, which was disheartening. The interactions with Ms. Pratinya and the motivation provided by the foundation’s representatives, I have decided to focus on my career and taking care of my siblings and parents.

My journey has been challenging, but through perseverance and the support of the training program, I have achieved success and look forward to a brighter future. Now I can support my family with decent income and my family is thankful to the foundations for such an initiative which is giving dignified life to live with pride.
