Background:

My name is Sunita, and I hail from Nakkala village in the Jogulamba Gadwala District. Coming from a very poor family in a remote area, opportunities for advancement have been quite limited. My father, a daily wage earner, is the sole breadwinner for our family, and we all depend on his earnings.

In our village, it is common for girls to get married at the age between 16 to 18 years, and my father often discussed with me about my marriage, there has been a push from the family and the relatives

In our village, it is common for girls to get married at the age between 16 to 18 years, and my father often discussed with me about my marriage, there has been a push from the family and the relatives.

Despite the significant pressure from my family to abandon my education and get married, I remained determined to continue my studies. I completed my education in Telugu medium government high school, I am not good in speaking and writing English and that had impacted my communication skills.

Despite of the challenges, I persevered and completed my degree. My parents were not supportive of migrating to a city for better career opportunities as they are living in the village since many years.

One fine day, Ms. Pratinya and her team visited our village and interacted with many of our villagers at the GramPanchayathi Office. I had learned about the free training program with job assistance by Ms. Pratinya’s Foundation. The foundations also offered help in Transportation and Food facility for the Girls attending the training programs. This helped me in getting a strong motivation and support during a 100-day Women Empowerment Training Programme.

This training provided me with essential communication and soft skills. As a result of this training, I was able to successfully secure a job with a monthly salary of Rs. 16,000. This opportunity has not only improved my financial situation but also empowered me to break away from traditional constraints and pursue a professional career.

All thanks to Ms. Pratinya for her initiative, without this I would not have been achieved what I have desired for.
